The artists that would one day form Wesson Studios first met in the spring of 2005 to discuss the use of digital and interactive technologies to film the stories of everyday people. A script was developed that summer that would later be titled A Glimpse Beyond Reality. By fall, the name "Wesson Studios" had been agreed upon. In the winter of 2006, production on a film referred to as Project 6 began, which would later be called Devil in the Backyard.
